2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 43,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 16 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Why You Need to Like (no LOVE) Yourself

“Do you treat your friends better than you treat yourself?”

Being a good friend to yourself is not selfish. It’s essential. Take any situation and ask, “What would I do for a friend if she were in my shoes?” Would you do the same for yourself?

When you compare how you treat yourself to how you treat your friends, it’s easy to see how to be your own friend. Your happiness is based on how good a friend you are to yourself. Both your self-esteem and self-confidence rely on it.

Not only are you happier when you can trust yourself to be your friend, but it becomes easier to be a good friend to others and recognize when others are good friends to you.

Transform Your Mental Outlook

“Count your blessings.”

Perhaps one of the simplest ways to change your mood or mental outlook is to remind yourself of all the good things in your life. Reflecting on how far you have come, what you have already accomplished, and what you have learned, can be very encouraging.

Appreciating your dearest friends, your closest family members, your favorite possessions and of course yourself can bring a smile to your face.

If you need a lift or an attitude adjustment, try to appreciate and reflect on the good things. Count your blessings. It can be done anytime and any place.

Why Things Happen

“Finding answers isn’t everything.”

We don’t always know why things happen. Disappointments and difficulties may never be explained. For example, you may never fully understand why management passed you up for a promotion or why a partner left you for someone else. No doubt there will be times in your life when you are left scratching your head trying to figure out, “Why?”

Letting go when there is no understanding that “Why?” is very hard.  Our culture places such emphasis on finding answers. But, finding answers isn’t everything. Your life should not stop when you don’t understand events. Instead, you must learn to let go.

So, get on with your life. Regain your energy and passion. Let go of the frustration of asking “Why?” and you clear the deck for a brighter future!

The Power of Your Smile

“There are hundreds of languages in the world, but a smile speaks them all.”

A smile not only crosses geographic boundaries, it also crosses the boundaries of culture, background, age and beliefs. What’s more, it works the same magic in them all!

A warm smile can make a child feel better, as surely as it can cheer up an old man. It can soften hearts and firm up commitments. It can mend friendships and break tensions. It can reassure and give support. It can say ‘I love you’ and ‘congratulations.’ It can make deals. It can make friendships. It can make memories or even make your day.

But perhaps, most important of all, a smile can make the world a better place for the person who gives it – you!

Secret Daily

Each of us is attracting in every moment of our lives. So when you feel that the law of attraction isn’t working for you because you don’t have what you want, realize that the law is constantly responding to you. You are either manifesting what you want or you’re manifesting what you don’t want. The law is always working and you’re always manifesting.
